Once again I will feature Kathryn Morgan on behalf of my daughter’s interests in ballet.
Recently Joanna started taking a fitness class at her dance studio–a beginner cross fit for teens class. She has found that different type of exercise from her regular dance routine has really helped her with strength in her core, and helped build her endurance overall.
For a ballet dancer, pilates is an important form of exercise to incorporate into warm ups and workouts away from the dance floor. Kathryn Morgan explains why this is so, and below takes the watcher through a 20 minute basic pilates mat workout. You don’t even need to be a dancer for this to be a useful workout, so give it a try and feel free to comment on what you think.
